Windy City Lives Up to Her Name!

We fully intended to leave DuSable Harbor this morning for the river system but, alas, it was not to be.  We woke up to gale force winds from the north.  These winds followed a major storm system with heavy rain that passed through Chicago last night.  We were even awakened by the National Weather Service phone alert that occurred after we went to bed.

The concern this morning was holding position against the strong wind in front of the locks and in front of bridges that have to open.  Another concern was that the amount of rain we had might affect the river system.  So what to do . . . . go back to bed and then go out for Chicago style pizza for lunch!

We will try again tomorrow when the winds will be light and the weather is expected to cooperate.  In the meantime, we made the most of being in Chicago for the day, along with our good friend and crew member, Hal!
