Because of weather considerations, loopers try to be off of Lake
Michigan before the end of September.
Then they enter the river system and move south. As a consequence, many loopers pass through
Racine, WI (LeeLoo’s home port) on their way south. Nancy and I are harbor hosts for the American
Great Loop Cruiser’s Association. When loopers pass through Racine, we introduce ourselves and offer assistance if
any is needed (e.g., a ride to the grocery store or to the doctor). Last week we went to dinner with 16 other
loopers from 8 boats; probably a record for Reefpoint Marina!
Tonight we had dinner with an interesting looper couple (Lady KK from Houston, TX) who are on their
third year of the trip. Since we are
just starting our loop, we have learned a lot from veteran loopers.
THAT IS VERY TRUE YOU DON'T WANT TO BE ON LAKE MICHIGAN IN THE WINTER
